Volunteer With Us

Day of Women is a brand new ”not for profit” currently run entirely by volunteers.

Volunteering is a great way to get involved with us, to learn new skills, meet new people and become more empowered in the process. Not only that, but it is a wonderful opportunity to contribute and give back.

Here’s what our volunteers have to say about their experience:

“I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to work with Day of Women. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learnt and the resources you have provided us with. Most of all, I’m very grateful that i have been able to use social media to inspire and motivate women who are going through difficult times. I will definitely miss tweeting and interacting with our followers. Working with Karen and the team has been a great experience and I hope the next set of interns continue this and help you take Day of Women further.”

- Sabina Sheikh: Social Media Team Leader and Writer.

“I am so glad to have joined the Day of Women team because of the inspirational work that this organisation carries out. As a recent graduate, I myself was struggling with despair due to unemployment, but Day of Women has provided a great way for me to gain some invaluable experience of writing and developing social media. Writing for Day of Women really is a must for anyone who wants to combine their love of writing with empowering women in need. It is a pleasure to gain an insight into the workings of such a commendable organisation.

- Kate Forbes: Researcher, Writer and recent graduate.

“I decided to begin an internship with Day of Women because I truly believe in what the organisation does for women struggling with difficult issues. I began the internship while I was on maternity leave. My role with Day of Women has helped me to gain some extraordinary work experience without having to miss out on the amazing first months of my daughter’s life. It really has been the best of both worlds!”

– Kate Marchant: Administrator, Writer and stay-at-home mum.

“Having recently graduated, I decided to volunteer with Day of Women. What really attracted me to this organisation was the prospect of being involved with a group who really do want to make a difference in people’s lives; to which Day of Women are truly dedicated to. On a personal level, Day of Women have offered me the chance to work in a challenging and exciting environment where I can be part of a team that values everyone’s input. The experience allows me to combine my previous knowledge to new tasks, and learn new valuable skills along the way.”

– Thelma John: Researcher and recent graduate.

“I had the opportunity to spend six weeks working with Day of Women as a marketing assistant during summer 2012; it was an experience that I will never forget. Not having much experience in marketing, as I am a university student, Karen was extremely helpful in easing me into every task and making sure I felt comfortable with my assignments. Karen was able to expand my knowledge of organisations by allowing me to try new things and followed up with helpful and constructive feedback. I couldn’t have asked to spend time with a nicer person and I learned an immense amount about both the organisation and marketing techniques that will pay dividends in my future career endeavors.”

- Danny Fischbach: Category Marketer and Student at University of Minnesota.

How do i become a volunteer?

While all offers of help will be greatly appreciated, at the moment we are especially in need of people with skills in the following areas:

  • Events Organisation
  • Marketing and PR (attracting clients to our programmes)
  • Writing and Researching
  • Social Media
  • Finance and Bookkeeping
  • Legal Management
  • Fundraising

If you would like to volunteer with us, please send an email to info@dayofwomen.org and we will discuss the best way for you to get involved.

Volunteering is also a great way to gain work experience to further your career. All of our volunteers have the opportunity to get involved in the areas of the organisation that most meet their needs. They go away with enhanced CVs, along with references and recommendations that reflect their contributions at the completion of their internship.

We seek volunteers who wish to work with us alongside their current roles, on a stand alone basis or as an internship.

Join our Leadership Team

As well as general volunteers to work across all areas, we are also looking to recruit for our Leadership Team. We seek heads of Marketing, Fundraising, Event Management, Finance and Treasury, and Adminstation.

As part of our Leadership Team, you would be a member of the board responsible for the general leadership and management of your particular area. As part of the Leadership Team for Day of Women, you will need to share our passion for helping women using coaching, complementary therapy and meditation programmes.  To find out more about joining us or to register your interest in one of these roles, or interest in supporting one of these roles, please get in touch at info@dayofwomen.org.
